Cliff Bastin was a prolific winger and inside-forward for the great Arsenal side of the 1930s, a cornerstone of Herbert Chapman’s all-conquering team. Cool and clinical, he plundered goals from the flank and set a club scoring record that stood for decades.
An England international, he collected a haul of league titles and FA Cups during Arsenal’s period of dominance, and is remembered as one of the finest attacking players of the pre-war era.
