Geoff Hurst secured his place in football history as the only man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final, doing so as England lifted the trophy on home soil in 1966. A strong, intelligent centre-forward, he was a model of composure on the sport’s biggest stage.

He spent the bulk of his career at West Ham United, forming part of a celebrated trio of England internationals at Upton Park, and remained a revered figure in the English game.
