Guglielmo Gabetto was a stylish, prolific forward and a mainstay of the legendary Grande Torino side that swept all before it in Italian football during the 1940s. Nicknamed for his elegance in front of goal, he was a central figure in the team’s procession of league titles.
His life ended in the Superga air disaster of 1949, which claimed almost the entire Torino side and left an indelible scar on the Italian game.
