Jürgen Klinsmann was one of the great German strikers, a relentless and mobile forward whose career carried him across Europe’s major leagues. From VfB Stuttgart he moved to Internazionale, Monaco, Tottenham and Bayern Munich, adapting and scoring everywhere he went.
For West Germany and later a unified Germany he was a decisive presence, striking for the side that won the 1990 World Cup and captaining the team to the European Championship in 1996. His diving celebrations and tireless running made him instantly recognisable.
Admired for his professionalism and eye for goal, he combined athleticism with intelligence in the box, and later turned to management, including a spell in charge of the German national team.
