Peter Osgood was the swaggering centre-forward who came to be known as the ‘King of Stamford Bridge’, an icon of Chelsea’s stylish, spirited side of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Tall and gifted, he combined aerial strength with a fine touch and a flair for the spectacular.
He was central to Chelsea’s FA Cup triumph in 1970 and their European success that followed, and he later added further honours elsewhere. An England international, he remains one of the most beloved figures in his club’s history.
