Sandro Mazzola was one of Italian football’s great forwards, a versatile and intelligent attacker who was central to the ‘Grande Inter’ of the 1960s. Son of the revered Torino captain Valentino Mazzola, he carried the family name with distinction, combining goalscoring with the creativity of a deep-lying schemer.
He won multiple European Cups and Serie A titles with Inter under Helenio Herrera, and starred for Italy, helping them to the European Championship in 1968 and to the World Cup final in 1970. Graceful and adaptable, he remains one of the most admired figures in the history of the Nerazzurri.
