Telmo Zarra was a legendary goalscorer for Athletic Bilbao and one of the most prolific strikers in Spanish football history. A commanding centre-forward, especially dangerous in the air, he set a La Liga scoring record that stood for decades and lent his name to the Zarra Trophy, awarded to the division’s leading Spanish marksman. He remains an icon of Basque football and Athletic’s greatest number nine.
